I am a product manager for the Olympus digital voice recorder at
Olympus America.
The media we are using is called " Miniature Card", which is the standard
flash memory card made by Intel. Smart Media is the different one used
for the Olympus digital camera. Just so you know.
I have realized that the reader is rather expensive. However, I still
recommend to use the reader, instead of using the cable cord, because
if you use the line-in jack with the connecting cable, you lose the
portability. You have to download the sound files one by one manually,
when using the line in jack.
Interface of the flash memery card is common problem. PCMCIA is good
for the laptop, however, it isn't for the desktop.
