I often find that I have to use the sequence: Ctrl-Alt-Del, End Task over
and over again until I finally get the extra dialog box saying that the
program is not responding, and then I can tell it in that box to close the
program and it will (usually). But I don't normally have to do that if the
Ctrl-Alt-Del dialog box already says the application is "(not responding)."
Are you saying you see two lines in the task list (summoned by
Ctrl-Alt-Del) with the name of the tasks followed by "(not responding)" and
yet if you choose one or both of them and press the End Task button nothing
happens? Have you tried doing those steps [on the same program] repeatedly
to see if it will work on the fourth or fifth try, perhaps?
Just a suggestion for something else to try (if you haven't already).
