Apparently what I should have said (instead of "this searched the
voicerecognition.com web site....") was this searched the AltaVista index of
voicerecognition.com. AltaVista, just like Yahoo! and others, is an index of
many web pages which have been submitted by users. AltaVista also has its own
technology that crawls the web for links. It is not an active search engine
whereby it goes out and searches a particular host location upon request, but one
that relies on its own database for information. Should AltaVista fail to list
every post from the Voice-Users Archive would not be a surprise to me.
Frankly, had AltaVista worked in the way in which I may have applied, I'd like to
get my hands on one of their machines. Between the bandwidth and CPU resources
required for such a task, I'd probably be able to keep up with the increased
activity here on the voice-users mailing list and run NaturallySpeaking 8.0 with
PsychicAbility Technology without much problem.
Pardon the confusion. And remember, your mileage may vary.
