I have a comment/question about this. As I understand it, the Dragon
programs (and probably other speech recognition programs as well) set the
sound card for "radio quality". However, if you use the sound recorder, it
will use your current multimedia settings. If this is set to Radio
Quality, or worse, then your recording may sound pretty lousy, even with a
good mic and soundcard. On the other hand, if you set to CD quality and
your recording still sounds lousy, then you have a very clear problem.
Comments from those wishing to correct/support my impressions above will be
appreciated.
