Several people on this list have extolled the virtues of the TalkMic. I purchased one 6 months ago and agree that it is extremely comfortable and easy to position. However, my VXI mic (I believe it is equivalent to the current Parrot 10-3 model) consistently gives me a higher sound to noise ratio (by a substantial margin) in the audio setup (Alt 1). Using the TalkMic in practice, I sometimes get extremely accurate recognition but other times get extremely poor recognition. I thought that perhaps the difference between the two might lie in the shielding of the cord connecting the computer to the microphone boom. (Each of the two cords -- one each for the microphone and the headset speaker -- on the VXI is substantially thicker than the single cord on the TalkMic.) An electrician suggested wrapping aluminum foil around the cord and sealing this with electrical tape. This, however, seemed to worsen the sound to noise ratio. Other than simply giving up on the TalkMic, any suggestio
