I have an SB16 Vibra and have been trying to track it down as the
CT isn't the same as the one on the Creative Labs List, and yet
it has a Creative Labs label on it. It's being driven by the
software provided by Gateway which has the same name/s as the
Creative Labs drivers for my former SB16 PnP. (The CT is also
different from the Vibra Dragon recommend.)
The Creative Labs page says that the Vibra is an OEM card;
so people might have very different experiences with it.
Mine are OK. FYI Gateway put it way away from everything
else on a large and uncluttered motherboard, and I think that
would make a difference.
I've been recording wav. files today for the first time,
and can't hear anything worrying.
But the Vibra is not as good as my former PnP, and I may swap
them over and see what happens.
I would say if your recognition is OK carry on with the Vibra,
but most people I know would suggest a 16 Pnp or a SB 64 Gold,
or a Turtle Beach: Fiji (?) or Montego.
And now I'll wait for someone to tell me the Vibra's hopeless!
(I do know other people who use it with no problems).
-- if you can get something else anyway, I would.
