home. I have identical microphones (Andrea ANC-600's); however, I have
two different sound cards. Is there any way to take advantage of the
training I do on one machine on the other? In other words, does it make
any sense to try to save my voice files in a "briefcase" on a ZIP disk
and keep them synchronized between my office and home machines?
>From Joel Gould's unofficial Dragon page, I have learned that my voice
files include (1) acoustic files and (2) vocabulary files.
1. Given that my sound cards are different on the two machines, my
guess is that I should not share the acoustic files between the two
machines. But maybe this is not correct. When I started using Dragon
on my office machine, I moved over my voice files from home, did only
approximately 10 minutes of additional general training, and had
comparable recognition. As I have noted, I am using two identical,
high-quality microphones.
2. Even if it does not make sense to synchronize the acoustic files,
does it makes sense to synchronize the vocabulary files? Put another
way, are the vocabulary files independent of both sound card and
microphone?
3. If it makes sense to synchronize any or all portions of my voice
files, is there some smarter way to do it then using Microsoft
briefcase? For example, is there any way I can change some registry
variable so that Dragon always looks for (some of) the voice files on a
ZIP disk? This would save me one step of manually copying of files.
Thanks for your response.
