
To see how clear my microphone was receiving voice, I let NaturallySpeaking set the audio level, then stayed in
NaturallySpeaking so the settings were preserved, turned off the mike, and used Windows sound recorder to listen to
silence and myself talking... there was a good deal of noise when I was actually talking, but silence otherwise.
Actually did this with two microphones: one became with NaturallySpeaking and another that had come with IBM's
Simply Speaking. I had similar results with both.
Two questions:
1. Will getting another microphone improve this? I have a Sound Blaster 16 plug and play, which is seated as far
away from other cards and the power supply as possible.
2. Is there is FAQ or other resource you trust that can recommend microphones and compare price and performance?
