I use a Toshiba T2130CT (DX4-75) with 24MB running Win95 for Dragon
Dictate 2.51. It works but it's fairly tedious. Each utterance is
followed by a significant pause before the choice list appears and
although you can keep talking, at some point you have to let the system
catch up. The Tosh doesn't have built in sound so I'm using a New Media
WaveJammer PCMCIA card. This seems OK in terms of quality of sample but
it's a bit touchy about suspend mode (it prefers to be properly
re-booted each time you use the system). This might be an option for you
if the built in sound system on the IBM underperforms.
I think that you're right to consider DD for DOS - I'm sure performance
would be much better without the Windows overhead (even 3.1 might be
better).
