The upshot was that activating the SpeechMike inactivated the modem and
made it impossible for me to receive transmitted images. I had to
deactivate SpeechMike and have returned to using the Microsoft mouse. My
installer had no idea why I had a problem with the SpeechMike. Any
suggestions? J. Kahn

It sounds as if Reset the SpeechMike had it grab the same com port as the
modem. I would remove the modem (physically), restart the computer and see
if the SpeechMike still works. Assuming it does, reinstally the modem,
Win95 should find it and set it automatically to the next com port. You can
use device manager to set it manually to the next available com port.
Just an afterthought. Check the BIOS Setup to make sure the com ports
(usually in a section called peripherals) are set to automatic and the
setting for Plug n Play OS is set to PnP.
