Which Shure mike are you using? I use a Shure, and seem to get very good
results. It is the only mike that I have (and I've used Phillips, and
whatever version comes with DNS Deluxe) that gives me above average on
the ASW.
I wish I had an answer to your problems. How long have you been using
NS? It seems to me that it has taken me about 6 months to get to a
position where I feel comfortable using it all the time. I still get
mistakes and more than most here, but I am determined to keep working
with it. Fortunately, few enough that it makes sense to use the program.
I use it for all my dictation (at the office). At home here I don't have
a powerful enough computer so I have to type.
Does the recognition not seem to improve at all? BTW, I don't use a
booster with the Shure (and I think I turn the volume about 1/3 of the
way down).
One small incentive although it doesn't mean much now: once you pass the
bar, you'll probably have a secretary -- VR becomes a non-necessity
(although many of my partners like to do their own typing for reasons
that have always confounded me!)
I wonder if the booster on the shure is causing it to pick up the hard
drive noise or are you using a different mike now? My hard drive is a
little noisey, but the construction on a new hotel across the street
from my office is a much greater concern, and even during the loudest of
construction efforts, NS seems to chug right along.
I'm sure you've tried this several times, but can you try a new user and
see what happens?
Wish I could help more.
