this is off the usual topics here, but I wanted to know if anyone else has
experienced this and what some probable solutions might be.
I've been using Dragon dictate 3.02 since Christmas and have noticed
increasing jaw pain--it starts where the jaw hinges near my ears. I don't
use Dragon dictate very much at the moment. Only about 1 to 2 hours a day,
since I am currently off work waiting to have wrist surgery. But, without
Dragon dictate I would be unable to use the computer at all.
I was also planning to continue to use voice recognition software when I
return to work to cut down on the amount of typing I'll have to do. But,
with this new pain I don't know about this option any more!
I do have a very slight case of TMJ, but have never had any problems till
now. Dragon dictate is a discrete speech system, so I'm wondering if a
continuous speech system might be better for me. However, I NEED something
to emulate the mouse and window controls even more than I need something to
type 4 me.
Are there any jaw exercises I can do to relax my jaw muscles? I know I
tense up when Dragon dictate doesn't understand what I say and I have to
correct it, time and time again. I get frustrated with it, since I used to
be able to get around MUCH faster when I used to type. but, I have been
taking breaks, drinking water, and trying to lower my expectations and
relax. But, it doesn't seem to help much.
