Sorry, I thought I sent this out yesterday, but it seems that it did not =
go through. Here it goes again.
WHOA guys.
Seems like I've pinched a nerve here.
I think we're making a big deal out of a small thing.
I do not think it is unreasonable to let people know where an archive is
being stored, or what company is providing a service.
I do not promote our company products or services. I simply take them =
to a page saying who we are for those whom are interested, not my =
product index or my home page. I can understand if I had something like =
"this service is sponsored by 21ce, speech recognition specialists", or =
"You can get the best SR products from here and our prices are insane", =
or I would make the graphic that is in question here state that we are a =
speech recognition dealer, or, I would simply include the over a =
thousand email addresses from this list when we are running a promotion, =
but I do not do any of these things. I do not take out any links to =
sites that are input from footer email addresses that vendors use here =
either. In fact, I think I am promoting other dealers more than myself =
because of this and instead of spending an hour or two posting and =
answering questions with footers that lead back to our company, i'm =
subscribing and unsubscribing people. I'm not interested in using this =
list promote our company on the web. We do well without it. What I am =
interested in doing is providing a large source of accessible =
information for voice recognition software and supporting this industry =
with the tools I have, through the internet. I have always been =
interested in this, and always will be.
I am very sensitive to this list. So much, that I do not allow any of =
our staff to post messages (except for my boss and Marcelo). Mainly =
because I am afraid they might throw a sales pitch to the list and start =
a never ending 21st Century thread (such as this one).
I'm sorry if I have offended anyone.
I can agree with one thing. The graphics are bigger than I'd like and I
have told our webmaster about that, and I'll ask him to make them a bit
smaller so it doesn't look like a big advertisement.
Also, about your email addresses and the archiving of the site on search
engines. I do not want to make it in-accessible for search engines to =
store this information. It is useful information that I believe should =
be available, and services such as deja-news will not archive them =
either.
HOWEVER, I have been listening to everyone's comments about the spamming =
and I get about 50 spams daily. I have no idea where they come from, =
but do know they are very annoying.
I will be testing out a program that will despam our archives. This =
way,
we'll all be protected (from this list).
This is part of the reason I started the archives running on our =
servers.
Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to make a point.
Hope we're still friends =3D ) .
