WHAT I THINK I KNOW SO FAR:
Bringing up Word 97 (by double clicking on Word icon on desktop) now has
a greyed out NaturallySpeaking menu entry and NaturalText is showing
enabled on the task bar. In this state I can say "click file", "click
edit", etc; can dictate directly into word; add Command Macros to push
hotkeys to play macros, etc.; but cannot use the "Select and Say"
feature. However, When I click on Dragon NaturallySpeaking on the Word
menu bar and select NaturallySpeaking, the grey Nat icons are enabled
thus enabling NaturalWord which has the affect of disabling NaturalText
(the NaturalText icon on the task bar changes in no way). In this state
I can dictate directly into Word, including using the "Select and Say"
feature but CANNOT activate any of the Menus (like "Click File", "Click
Edit", etc.). I can, however, create Command Macros which do activate
Menu items.
QUESTIONS:
1) If NaturalWord disables NaturalText when it loads (the NaturalText
readme file does say that it does not affect the behavior of
NaturalWord), then why is the NaturalText icon still showing active in
the task bar?
2) Since a search of global.dvc shows all the Command Macros that I have
created while using NaturalText & NaturalWord, however it does not show
any of the Menu voice commands that are present when using Natural Text
(like "Click File", "Click Edit", etc.), am I correct in assuming that
those voice commands are created dynamically by the NaturalText add on
(similar to tracking.voc in DD 3.01)?
3) If assumption 2) is true, where is the tracking vocabulary stored?
(In DD, tracking shows up in Explorer and in the Vocabulary Manager)
4) If assumption 2) is NOT true, then where are those voice macros
stored?
5) Since it is possible to enter Word and utilize it with NaturalText
then switch to NaturalWord, is it also possible to switch off
NaturalWord and switch NaturalText back on? If so, how? If not, why
not?
6) Global.dvc shows both shipping macros and user created macros all
scrambled together as one file in little apparent order - would it ruin
anything if I resorted them (within each State) in alphabetical order?
7) User added Command Macros created using the Command Builder write to
the global.dvc with the following formatting (this is a paste of two
that I created for WP 6.1):
--------
MENU "WPWIN61" {
STATE "WordPerfect" {
COMMAND "Rolodex File" {
KEYS {
{Alt+Shift+r}
}
}
COMMAND "Gibbons Citation" {
SCRIPT {
DDEExecute "WPWin60_Macros", "Commands",
"FileInsert(""C:\office\wpwin\aec\legal\clauses\gibbons.par"";Yes!;Insert!)"
}
}
}
}
---------
7) (continued) Should I wish to create macros directly in global.dvc
instead of using the Command Wizard, is it necessary to have all the
hard returns and tabs (makes it hard for me to read). As an example,
could I write the Rolodex File command macro directly to global.dvc like
this:
MENU "WPWIN61" {STATE "WordPerfect" {COMMAND "Rolodex File" {KEYS
{{Alt+Shift+r}}}}}
8) In Dragon Dictate, shipping voice macros were always capitalized and
in brackets, i.e. [Open Document], when I added a voice macro, I didn't
capatilize them so that I could tell at a glance those that I had added
from the shipping ones, i.e. [rolodex file]. In Nat Deluxe, is it
necessary to capitalize the macro's name in order for it to work?
Anyone have any answers, hints, guesses to any of the above, I would
really appreciate your sharing,
Rose
Office 97!
