It's not necessary (in a system used for speech recognition) to replace
the AWE64 with an old style soundblaster 16, but you can make sure the
AWE processor utilization stays low by disabeling the software MIDI
synthesizer and just using the hardware synthesizer (AWE32 mode). You can
also make sure that nothing tries to play MIDI while the recognizer is
running.
