Since upgrading to NaturallySpeaking Deluxe Edition I myself have been
experiencing performance problems of it in not only NaturallySpeaking, but
DragonDictate as well. Hi to have a low mail voice so this is consistent
with your observations. On a hunch I aware to bias box from PCConnection.
Installing the bias box was a simple matter of inserting two AA size
batteries and connecting it between my microphone and the sound card. I
than ran the Audio Setup Wizard with the Complete option selected. My
sound quality rose from Below-average to Average. In addition to this I
have noticed your misrecognitions in NaturallySpeaking. Also when I do
need to make corrections in NaturallySpeaking they now seem to occur at a
faster rate (i.e. with less hesitation between what I say and what appears
in the dialog box -- as well as less time for the correction to be made in
the document itself). I guess would be that with the bias box installed
the signal that the sound card receives and sense to NaturallySpeaking is
'clearer' or for lack of a better term. Therefore the computer asked to
work less to process what I say and performance is improved. You might
want to try using a bias box yourself. I have not yet tried DragonDictate
to see what differences having the bias box installed makes in DragonDictate.
