I am blind, and I'll be taking an algebra course in a few months as part of
my diploma program in computing science. I soon plan to buy Dragon Dictate
for Windows. In planning for the math course, I've been contemplating
hiring a scribe to write my workings down as I read from Braille. Even
with the assistance of a reader/scribe, the whole process takes an
inordinate amount of time for both concerned, and is prone to error when
dealing with complex formulae. Have any of you error when dealing with
complex algebraic material, graphs, etc. I need to compose my mathematical
thoughts in Braille, however;I am not efficiently fast at typing such
material and trying to work the problems out with only the text-to-speech
facilities of my system.
Have any of you experimented with dictation of math using DD or other
voice recognition products? If you have, your results, comments,
suggestions, etc., are very much welcome. Thanks in advance.
