Just a note - Remember when choosing sound cards, that for voice
recognition what is important is the quality of the sound going in, not
the quality of the sound going out. Manufacturers focus on outgoing
sound quality (for music)as do retailers (who normally know nothing
about ingoing sound). The quality of the ingoing sound is a byproduct
that is left to chance. Thus in terms of VR the normal rules of sound
cards do not apply,eg; 64 is not necessarily better than 32, or 16, as
that only applies to outgoing sound. There is thus a strange mixture of
cards that are best for VR which are often cheap and old 16 bit cards
rather than the most expensive and up to date 32 bit models.
We covered this on the list a month or so back. Maybe someone has the
reference for the archives?
Remeber also that peopes experiences will differ as other aspects are
alos important, like the amount of random disturbances along the path of
the "sound" in the motherboard, that is, electron interference. Thus
compare motherboards too. However the quality of the sound card is
vital.
