This isn't very helpful, but at least you know you aren't the only one having strange problems.
I'm glad your performance is much improved, I think the memory makes a big difference.

Subject: DD 3 and NT 4
A while back I asked for help in getting my DD 3.01 system to behave
under NT 4. Following recommendations, I have bought more memory
(bringing my total up to 128MB) and carried out a complete
re-install of DD. I'm glad to say it is behaving much better,
I've had no system crashes or general protection faults since.
Thanks to all for advice :-)
However, I am still getting a few strange things... and I wondered
if anyone else is having them, or has any ideas.
The first thing is when scratching out words which are wrong. Although
[Scratch That] works okay, scratching two or more words doesn't as
when [Scratch Two] is recognised and the window with the okay/cancel
buttons pops up the focus doesn't change to that window.
The second thing is when in command mode and wanting to type a word,
if I say [Type Word] and then say two things in quick succession, the
second thing is also translated as a dictate mode word, for example
I want to write "links." saying from command mode "[Type Word] links dot"
and I get "linksdot" written to the screen, it's as if DD can't switch
fast enough between modes.
Another slightly alarming thing is in the "programmers file editor"
application... in dictate mode DD occasionally must send some control
characters as I can be happily dictating when the system menu for the
application suddenly appears. This is alarming as one of the items on
the PFE system menu is "exit windows". The dictated words are then
sent as commands to the system menu and I am often confronted with a
message box asking me if I really want to close all my applications and exit!
Any advice greatly appreciated, thanks in France
(I mean of course, thanks in advance!)
Jenny
