recently sent to the list. This type of Spam has fooled someone/system into
believing it is real. In the case of this list and many others it would
require a fully moderated setup to eliminate that type of Spam. for a fully
moderated list you have to have someone screening each message and then
forwarding them to the list of subscribers.
This doesn't mean that the subscribers can't be spamed, just that the list
itself wouldn't do the spaming. My own opinion is that, like snail mail,
bills and junk mail comes but ... well in my case bills and junk mail comes
<BG>, bad example I guess!
Hitting the delete button solves the small amount that I get now. I useto
get 20 to 50 a day when I was beta testing the world's GREATEST email and
newsreading software (sorry, only in OS/2) but have cut that out almost
entirely. There is no real secret to how I eliminated it, I spoof my
address when posting in a Usenet group. I have my email address set to be
donot@@forget.your.towel. Since this is a fictious address it get's bounced
back to the sender and has no effect on either of my ISPs. You can, if you
want to work at it, track addresses like the one I use but the address
collecting software doesn't work that hard.
I realize that some my say that it is improper to hide your identity but I
don't, I just don't post my return address.
