For those of you who wish to see what is needed for this person, just turn off
your monitor and try to do your computer work!
We are having multiple problems. Henter-Joyce (JAWS) and Dragon Tech Support
groups have not yet been able to help substantially. We'd like to know if any
others are using this combination of products. If other combinations of
products work better, we'd also be interested. The major problems are:
(a) we have not been able to get keystrokes passed from DDWIN to JAWS
(b) we are getting material "read" by JAWS by using DDWIN macros to cause text
to be highlighted, thereby causing JAWS to read the text, but would prefer to
be able to directly access some of the JAWS screen-reading functions.
(c) we have been unable to get DDWIN text-to-speech working in a fashion that
does not audibly conflict with JAWS (we have two sets of speakers on the
system, one for the sound card and one for the speech synthesizer)
(d) the system seems to hang after 30 minutes to an hour of usage -- always
when there is no sighted person to see precisely what is on the monitor.
Any suggestions, comments, etc. pertaining to this situation would be
appreciated.
