Dictate directly into your favorite application
With Power Secretary, you can dictate text, numbers, dates, names, specialized terms and macros directly into most of your favorite Macintosh applications using the spoken word.
Fast and accurate text entry
After a relatively short learning phase, Power Secretary will enable you to dictate text accurately in real-time at 55 correct words per minute depending on your CPU speed. By inserting slight pauses between your spoken words, Power Secretary will transl ate what you say into text on your Macintosh. In addition, you can create text macros that allow you to enter large blocks of text with short voice commands. For example, you can enter specific medical or legal phrases with short voice commands, or ente r client address information by simply speaking the client's name.
Large vocabulary system
Power Secretary comes installed with a minimum of a 120,000 word backup dictionary and a maximum 60,000 word active vocabulary based on extensive research into the most commonly used words in the English language. With these extensive dictionaries, Power Secretary can quickly translate what you say into text. In addition, we also offer the Power Secretary pro-series which combines the features of the standard Power Secretary with customized vocabulary and language models for various professions includin g legal, medical applications.
Easy to learn and use.
Using its installed dictionary and corresponding speech phoneme models, Power Secretary learns your specific speech patterns very quickly. The more you talk, the better the system becomes. Power Secretary uses speech patterns it hears to improve recogni tion of all words, even those you haven't yet spoken.
System automatically adapts to your way of speaking.
The power behind Power Secretary is its ability to adapt to your voice, vocabulary and work environment. When you first use Power Secretary, it creates a personal voice file for you that contains words and acoustic models for the standard dictionary. As you dictate and make recognition corrections, Power Secretary personalizes the acoustic models to the way you speak. Power Secretary also adapts to what you say, continually modifying its language models to better reflect your use of semantics and synta x. For instance, words that you use most frequently appear at the top of the choice list, and words that you add to your vocabulary replace words you use least frequently. To further improve accuracy, Power Secretary continuously adapts to the noise in your work environment, however quiet, noisy, or variable it is.
Simple error correction
Like most humans, Power Secretary also makes mistakes periodically when translating your speech into text. When Power Secretary makes a mistake, you can use its built-in error correction technology to help it performe better the next time it hears the wo rd it misunderstood. When you see that the wrong word has been recognized, you can ask Power Secretary to display other choices for what it heard. By selecting the proper choice, not only will the text be corrected, but Power Secretary will update its v oice models for the given word so that it will perform better next time you say the word.
Advanced auto correcting.
Power Secretary also includes a special capability called auto correct which enables the system to automatically correct words after you correct a previous word. For example, if you say "2.0" and the system uses "to point zero", when you correct the "to" to "2", the system will automatically correct the "point zero" to ".0". This feature increases the systems performance automatically making corrections for you in many instances.
Intelligent punctuation
As you dictate, Power Secretary automatically adds the correct number of spaces after words and at the end of sentences. It also has the correct number of spaces around punctuation and formats the following text. You can also control how the system perf orms its punctuation through certain preference settings.
Smart text and number handling
When it comes to words that sound alike, such as "to,""too,"and "two," Power Secretary determines the most likley choice based on probability and context. Power Secretary is also intelligent about handling numbers too. Special features for numeric numbe rs, ordinal numbers, years in decades, and hundreds, thousands, and millions and get the results you want.
Customized Vocabularies
Power Secretary allows you to add new words, phrases, proper names, or even application specific words to the standard dictionary, or create an entirely new or specialized vocabulary for dictation. From Power Secretary's base 120,000 word dictionary, you can add words at anything with very little effort. When you want to add a new word, just spell its first few letters. If the word is in the 120,000 word dictionary, Power Secretary displays the complete, correctly spelled word and moves it, along with its phonetic pronunciation into the active vocabulary file. In order to make room for the new word, Power Secretary looks its usage of all the words in the active vocabulary and automatically removes the least used word. If the word you want to add is n ot in the 120,000 word dictionary, just say it once and then type in the new word. Power Secretary will then add this new word and its acoustic representation to the active vocabulary.
Voice control macros
In addition to pure text entry, Power Secretary also allows you to create commands to control almost any function of an application by voice. By utilizing AppleScript and QuicKeys, Power Secretary allows you to control any application by voice using spok en commands to execute functions normally performed with your keyboard or mouse. Whether you're selecting menus or graphic tools, responding to dialogue boxes, clicking on buttons, entering data, or even issuing macros, Power Secretary makes your Macinto sh faster and easier to use.
Hands-free control
After completing initial training, you can use Power Secretary to dictate text and control most of your applications without using your hands. Although there are some things you can't do by voice, all major functions including dictating, correcting mista kes, adding new words, controlling most application functions and even moving and clicking the mouse can do all the achieved solely by using your voice.
Multiple users
By creating individual voice files, Power Secretary enables multiple users to dictate text, although the system currently supports only one user at a time.
Supports the PowerBook
In addition to running on desktop Macintosh models, Power Secretary also runs as a software-only application on selected PowerBook models. If you need to dictate any type of notes, reports, correspondence etc. while you're on the road, you can now utiliz e your PowerBook as a mobile dictation machine.
