BUNDLES GIVE PROFESSIONALS THEIR OWN POCKET-SIZED ASSISTANT
Lernout & Hauspie’s Dragon NaturallySpeaking
Software Adds Convenience and Utility
NEW YORK, SPEECHTEK 2000 Booth 1000, Nov. 2, 2000
– Offering mobile professionals more capability and functionality, Sony
Electronics today announced it will bundle its top selling voice recorders
with the nation’s leading speech recognition software, Dragon
NaturallySpeaking® software version 5 from Lernout & Hauspie.
The two product bundles, offered by Sony Electronics under the names
ICD-MS1VTP Memory Stick® Digital Voice Recorder and ICD-R100VTP Digital
Voice Recorder, serve as the ultimate business tool for professionals who
need to quickly transcribe voice recordings into full text documents.
L&H’s Dragon NaturallySpeaking® version 5 is user-friendly
speech recognition software that, in combination with either the Sony
ICD-MS1 Memory Stick Digital Voice Recorder or the ICD-R100 Digital Voice
Recorder, enables users to dictate documents while away from a PC. Upon
returning to a PC, users download their dictation for automatic
transcription by the award-winning Dragon NaturallySpeaking® software.
The software also enables users to easily edit documents and e-mail, surf
the Web, and navigate their desktops.
"Digital technology has increased the functionality of voice
recorders," said Stephen Teplansky, senior marketing manager for
digital voice products at Sony Electronics. "By bundling these
products with Dragon NaturallySpeaking software, we have added more
benefit by addressing the efficiency needs of today’s streamlined
professionals."
The Memory Stick Voice Recorder bundle, model ICD-MS1VTP, is a palm
sized portable dictation device that uses removable Memory Stick media,
delivering 131 minutes of recording time on the included 16 MB Memory
Stick media. The bundle is expandable to 524 minutes using a 64 MB Memory
Stick.
Memory Stick media and MagicGateÔ Memory
Stick media are convenient, ultra-small, high-capacity transfer media that
can capture, save and share such digital information as voice files, music
recordings and electronic images. They are used in many digital products,
including PCs, digital cameras, camcorders and personal stereos.
The other new bundle, the ICD-R100VTP, is a practical digital recorder
package that offers the flexibility to take voice recordings of meeting
notes or creative ideas, and then transcribe, organize, e-mail, or set
voice alarm reminders.
Share Voice Messages With Several Colleagues in a Single
E-Mail
Even if away from the office, users can share voice files with
colleagues or friends by saving them to the PC and e-mailing them as an
attachment. The Memory Stick Voice Recorder uses Memory Stick media to
transfer files to the PC. With the ICD-R100VTP, users can transfer files
to their PC via a PC Link cable.
The Memory Stick Voice Recorder ICD-MS1VTP features a convenient
playback edit function for easy correction of the dictation. The unique
filing structure enables easy dictation downloads by allowing the user to
create up to 340 personalized folders.
A large backlit LCD screen displays the number of messages, date and
time of each recording and remaining battery power.
The ICD-MS1VTP bundle is currently available and comes with a carrying
case and batteries. The unit measures 1 ľ" (w) x 4 1/3" (h) x
2/3" (d), weighs about three ounces, and is expected to sell for
about $300.
The slim designed ICD-R100VTP Digital Voice Recorder is lightweight and
delivers up to 150 minutes of high-quality recording time in long play
mode. It features two message files for different applications, such as
business memos or personal reminders, for better organization and faster
access. It also includes the index function feature at the touch of a
button. |
