A USB interface permits fast and trouble-free transfer of voice files to a computer or laptop - even if the system uses an NT operating system. Additionally, the cable connection makes direct dictation to the computer possible. The user can operate the software via the DS-3000.

Streamlining work processes, this model and the DSS Player Pro software allow effortless sorting, editing and archiving. Once downloaded, files are immediately sent to the virtual in-tray or, if desired, automatically emailed to a predefined address, such as a secretary's or colleague's. Furthermore, extending capabilities, it provides a plug-in for the optional voice recognition software, ViaVoice from IBM. Ten author IDs and ten "work types" further aid identification of the files for faster processing, while priority tags highlight dictations deserving preferential treatment.

So important passages are found quickly and with ease, the user is provided with 16 index marks for each file. These can be inserted anywhere in a recording, either during the dictation or later in playback mode with the DS-3000 or the software.
Through the utilisation of the compact and versatile removable SmartMedia cards, a maximum recording time is possible of 22 hours and 20 minutes with an optional 64 MB card in Long Play mode. And there's an additional benefit too: Users may freely switch the SmartMedia between the DS-3000 and Olympus digital cameras.

The DS-3000 is much more than a stand-alone model. Numerous accessories are available that build upon the already stunning capabilities. These include, for example, the Transcription Kit (containing the DSS Player Pro transcription software, a headset and foot switch) and a card reader/writer which is also compatible with digital cameras).
