Uneven dictation accuracy
ViaVoice's dictating skills are too hit-and-miss for our taste. When we trained the app, the best it could come up with was an anemic 83 percent recognition rate. It aced the newspaper op-ed piece (93 percent), but slipped on the business letter (83 percent) and crumbled completely in deciphering the CNET story (73 percent). In other words, limit ViaVoice to elementary school-level conversation, and it does fine.
