Speakpad Explodes when used.

When I use Dictate to speakpad or even just run it from explorer it crashes RIGHT away! The details it leaves are these:
First: VOICEPAD caused an invalid page fault in
module MFC42.DLL at 0167:5f401a7a.

Then this: VOICEPAD caused an invalid page fault in
module OLEAUT32.DLL at 0167:7fe8d6ec.

I have reinstalled, deleted and uninstalled then reinstalled. I am going nuts! I am running Win 98, (it used to work ok on win 98) a PIII and wishing I owned a Comodore 64!

Any help would be grand!
