Installing PowerSec 2.06 on OS 8.1

I just installed PowerSecretary on an OS 8.1 Powermac. Now, whenever I boot, a dialog box tells me "Binary-to-decimal conversion unavailable. You must hold shift to restart...." When I disabled the PowerSec Hands Free extension, it boots fine. Any info would be helpful. What can't you do without that extension? Thanks
