: Well, I had those problems too initially, but the key is to have a good sound card, which makes all the difference in the world. I put in the Soundblaster 64 AWE Gold (not the Value model)- think is was about $190- and the recognition jumped dramatically. When I run the sound training module of NS it now shows "above average quality" for sound whereas before it was average. Also, I use it on a notebook which gives the same above average sound rating and it makes a huge difference. Two other keys are; 1. a good microphone, and 2. to keep the mike very close to your mouth, but just off to the side, about one-half inch from the side of your mouth.

: The IBM product, in my opinion, is a big waste of money. I've tried it and could recommend it to no one.

Question to "George":
I'm not clear on what you upgraded from? A Soundblaster AWE 64 Value? I ask because I was told by Dragon phone support that the AWE 64 Value was on par with the Gold. Is this not so? (The Soundblaster AWE 64 Value soundcard is significantly cheaper).
