Has anyone had any positive experience using NaturalWord 3.52 in Windows NT 4.0?
I have been struggling with Dragon NaturallySpeaking software for two years. Currently trying to use NaturalWord 3.52 with Word 97 SR-1 in Windows Workstation NT 4.0 (Build 1381: Service Pack 4) on a genuine Intel BX motherboard with a Pentium II 350 chip and 256 megs of RAM.
Often NaturalWord stops understanding commands (such as Delete That). I'm lucky when I can correct this by disabling Natural Language Commands, closing NaturalWord, reopening NaturalWord, re-enabling Natural Language Commands, closing NaturalWord and reopening NaturalWord. I do this at least once a day.
More than once a week, the software stops responding when I try to save speech files. At that point, I have to close it using the task manager, restart the computer, and uninstall and reinstall Dragon NaturallySpeaking software. Again, this is more than once a week!!
During the past couple of days, this has happened several times. Currently speech recognition has deteriorated drastically and my usual solutions (disabling and re-enabling Natural Language Commands, uninstalling and reinstalling NaturallySpeaking) no longer seem to have any effect.
I have a speed-dial relationship with a nice second-level tech support person at Dragon Systems who sincerely seems to want to help me but seems completely stumped. She seems to think that there might be problems with Dragon in NT but seems unsure about this.
Is there any hope? Again, has anyone made this software work day in and day out in NT?
