Can anyone tell me how DragonDictate (on the Mac) compares with Dragon NaturallySpeaking (on the PC)?
I have been using Dragon NaturallySpeaking for a number of years and have recommended it to many of my clients.
I have recently had a number of clients who are would like to go with the Mac if DragonDictate will give them the same
functionality as Dragon NaturallySpeaking on the PC. I would really appreciate any insights you might have.
The client I'm working with has a high level spinal cord injury so she has limited use of her hands.

The key word is “functionality”. Although DragonDictate and NaturallySpeaking 11 share the same speech engine, DragonDictate falls rather short in functionality. If your end users are married to Mac computers and dictation doesn't play an important role in their workflow, DragonDictate would be a reasonable choice but for all other situations, we wouldn't recommend anything less than NaturallySpeakingPremium 11.5 which is currently on sale.

HOWEVER, when it comes to physical disabilities, you can double the advantages of NaturallySpeaking because KnowBrainer 2011 doesn't work with DragonDictate, is designed specifically for the physically disabled and is freely available to them. You'll find a lot more information on comparing DragonDictate to NaturallySpeaking and KnowBrainer 2011 on the KnowBrainer Speech Recognition Forums
