In Dragon Medical 10.0 if you dictate “dysfluency” Dragon will spell the word with DIS instead of the preferred medical spelling of DYS
This is also true for many words that you may prefer the medical spelling DYS >
For example:
dyspepsia Dragon Medical 10 spelling = dispepsia
dysfunction Dragon Medical 10 spelling = disfunction
dysfluent Dragon Medical 10 spelling = disfluent
dysgensis Dragon Medical 10 spelling = disgensis
And many others…
In Dragon Medical 10.0, with the User Profile open to your medical vocabulary, on the DragonBar select:
Tools > Formatting > the Miscellaneous Tab
You will see the option
Spell “disfluency” and related words with “dys”
This option is not selected by default.
As the title suggests, if you dictate “dysfluency” Dragon will spell the word with DIS instead of the preferred medical spelling of DYS
Select this option to ensure that Dragon always uses the DYS spelling for the appropriate words.
There was a change to this function in Dragon Medical 10.1.
In Dragon Medical 10.1 the option
Spell “disfluency” and related words with “dys” is no longer available.
In Dragon Medical 10.1 the spelling of many words has been corrected from DIS to the preferred medical spelling of DYS.
The option to have Dragon automatically convert the spelling of words to the preferred medical spelling of DYS has been removed.
However, if you dictate certain words such as “dysfluency” or “dysfluent” Dragon Medical 10.1 will spell the word with DIS
In this situation you can:
1. Open the Vocabulary Editor and enter disfluency in the Written Form window.
2. Then select the Properties button.
3. In the Word Properties window enable the option “Use alternate written form 1”.
4. You will see that “dysfluency” is available in the text field by default.
5. Click OK and close the Vocabulary Editor.
Now whenever you dictate “dysfluency” it will always have the spelling of DYS.
