Hi I have a question regarding Dragon and noise cancellation headsets.

Incidentally by noise cancellation I'm not referring to microphones to cancel out unnecessary noise. I'm referring to a headset which covers ones ears preventing chatter and background noise from being heard.

I have been using a Koss - QZ-99 Technology Stereo Headphone (which doesn't have a microphone) to proofread documents using a screen reader and then switching to a Logitech digital USB headset when I want to dictate.

Essentially what I'm looking for is one product that does the following.

1) Something which I can use to cover my ears and lock out background noise.
2) Also has a microphone so that I can dictate using Dragon NaturallySpeaking.

It would be preferable if this was a USB microphone.

Also I'm working off of Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 8 preferred so I'm not sure but that might also be a consideration in terms of finding an appropriate solution.

Anyhow any feedback and thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Allow me to second Marty's comment - theBoom Quiet is exactly what you're looking for. In addition to beng an active noise canceling headset it includes a passive noise canceling microphone. The "Quiet" shares the same microphone element as the theBoom V4 and theBoom "O" and all three are known for their accuracy.

Included with this microphone are:
  • standard 2.5mm headset connector for cell phones.
  • standard 3.5mm stereo headphones connector for audio devices. ie, CD player, iPod, ...
  • airplane connector (2 prong).
  • stereo adaptor (1/4" to 3.5mm)
  • pc adapter
  • hard and soft cases
