"Nuance has only just begun the planning stages and is collecting recommendations at this time. Ver. 10 is still a long way off. DNS 9 SP2 is due to be released by the end of this month and if Nuance stays with their typical release dates, Ver. 10 will probably be about a year away."

Well, this reply was dated 1st May last year, so any further speculation on whether or not Ver 10 is now due?

Correction - I was reading the dates from a UK perspective, so that now makes this post 16 months old.

The people in the know are required to sign nondisclosure agreements so there is no way to be absolutely certain because if we all knew the release date, Nuance wouldn't be able to sell Ver. 9 for about the last 4 months before Ver. 10 was released. Nearly all manufacturers operate this way but it is generally rumored that DNS 10 will not be released before November of this year and probably won't be released until around February of 2009. It's still in the planning stages and nowhere near beta testing but Nuance is working on the possibility of utilizing SAPI 5.3, creating a 64-bit version of DNS and taking serious advantage of multi-core processing which should be interesting considering that 8 core processing is just around the corner. What we can tell you is that there will not be another service release patch. Ver. 10 will be the next release of DNS and we were informed by Nuance senior executives that Ver. 10 will definitely be released.

Some future enhancements MAY include:

1. Being able to read your mind so that you no longer actually have to dictate ~ NOT

2. Automatically re-writing your dictation after you finish it so it will be coherent to others ~ NOT

3. Introduce artificial intelligence where your computer will be able to respond to questions as on Star Trek ~ NOT

4. Drive your car to and from work via a notebook computer ~ NOT

Hi All,

After powering MacSpeech with Dragon Engine, I personally think & wish that the version 10 will have the option of Mac compatibility. Does any one have any clue??.

It is extremely unlikely that NaturallySpeaking 10 will support the Mac platform because, as previously stated, it would be an incredible undertaking. This is why Nuance licensed their engine to MacSpeech to begin with. It looks like NaturallySpeaking 10 isn't even going to include a 64-bit OS option and that would've been a lot easier to do and would have found a larger user base by 2009.
