Hi: My comments will seem naive to many but thanks in advance for your patience.
Looking for guidance from obviously a knowledgable bunch. I dictate 10-13 pg. reports on a analog recorder and then have them transcirbed. I'm a psy. and do use some technical but oft repeated phrases. -Have tried the Microscoft VR software bundled w/my laptop but even w/significant training, its accuracy is so poor I end up dictating the usual way. Tried Dragon v.5 some years ago but was not impressed although it sounds like v. 9 is in the 95%+ accuracy area.
Are digital recorders now bundled w/Dragonware or do you still need to load the software on your laptop and then download a file from the recorder where the file is then transcribed into Word? If so, are soundcard issues a consideration? My laptop is a Dell Latitude 600 w/Windows 2000. Or is it better for accuracy and processing to get an external soundcard/USB attachment and dictate directly into the laptop?
Any and all suggestions and product recommendations? Thanks to all who respond -great forum!!!!!
