I have a client attempting to use DNS Pro 8.10 on a new Dell Notebook (Pentium M 1.73GHz, 1GB RAM) with the VXI TalkPro with VXI USB Sound Pod. The system is running Windows XP Professional. We are able to successfully create and train her user. When attempting to begin dictating in Word 2003 or control her microphone by voice, the system starts to behave abnormally. The voice meter frequently flashes red and then a slew of Dragon NaturallySpeaking error message are thrown. After closing the error dialogue, we had to reboot to use DNS again only to recieve another error once again locking up DNS.

The three error messages I recieved are as follows:
1. NaturallySpeaking is having trouble with the application 'DgnMyCmds'. It did not complete the last recognition. Please close the application and try again.
2. NaturallySpeaking is having trouble with the application or module 'Global dictation engine sink.' Please close the application and try again.
3. NaturallySpeaking is having trouble with the application or module 'natspeak, SDK engine sink (created at 2:53:00 PM on 3-27-06)'. Please close the application and try again.

I have attached the setup and dragon logs.

As a quick note, this computer is used in a US Government purchasing department.

We were able to install and use Dragon on this client's personal laptop without any issues.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Marc

From what I can ascertain, she does have admin rights on the system. I have concluded this to be the case because I was able to successfully install the software, create a user profile and train the user without any problems or error messages. I did not take the extra step of confirming this through Windows but the IT department at the client's office also inferred that we can install software through the client's Windows account.

I can attempt to reinstall the software based on your recommendation to see if that solves the problem.

Were there any indications in the log files of what the problem might be?

I wonder if there are any Windows security policies or system settings (page file size, etc.) that might be the culprit? This is the second computer in this office we have installed DNS and have run into problems only after the user profile is created and the general training has been completed.

I look forward to your response.

Has anyone figured this out?
I'm on Windows XP, 1 gig of RAM, DNS pref. v. 8 and I get this message about once a week, usually the 1st and 3rd ones:

And usually when I'm on the Internet. It freezes my system and its impossible to get out of it without using keystrokes

I Googled it which led me here. Nuance is usually pretty useless.

Thank you
