Hello Judy or John:
Above the only program that consistently brings up the correction/spelled correction windows when getting the command "correct that" or "spell that" are Microsoft Word and Internet Explorer. Is there away to force the correction windows to come up with either a command or a keystroke? I would like to be able to make sure that I can train DNS when there are misrecognitions. Thanks -- Jim -- Michigan -------------------- Jim -- Michigan

Could you give examples of programs where Correct That doesn't work? Also, does Correct "word/s to be corrected" work in those programs? Judy |

Jim,
Can you select the "text to be corrected", which does not necessitate the opening of the correction box, and then dictate the correct text? Like Judy, I would be curious to know what programs you're having problems with. Hello John and Judy:
I am mostly having difficulty with my GroupWise e-mailed. In fact have decided that it's pretty frustrating indicating into that application, so I'll simply dictate into Microsoft Word and then transferred by dictation to GroupWise. Often when selecting a word and then simply redictating I end up with the same miss recognized word. This is why I wanted to know if there is away to get the "word training" window to come up with and authority stroke. I wish using DNS with the trade icon only mode. If I switch to the cling mode with DragonBar will be available for menu selection. Then I can ask for words and make my training. I'm also considering purchasing Corel office 2002. It is not supported here at work so I don't have any experience with the Corel products. Do either if you have experienced with their database program? I use FileMaker Pro. I have never got onto Microsoft Access. As I as mentioned to Judy at ebay.com you can purchase Corel office 2002 OEM version for about $25. Thank you-Jim -- Michigan -------------------- Jim -- Michigan

Well I can see from my last message that it pays to be reread your messages. I hope you can make some sense out of what I said!
The gist is that I will dictate into my word processing program and copy and paste to GroupWise. I've been running DNS in the tray icon mode only. I'll switch to the cling mode so I can use the Dragonbar. Thanks again -- Jim -------------------- Jim -- Michigan

Jim,
What version of GroupWise are you using? I'm using version 5.5 with no problems at all. I am running Corel office on my computer with no problem at all. I know Judy is using WordPerfect but I'm not sure she's using the office suite. As far as I'm concerned, it is preferable to Microsoft Office. As an interesting side note, my computer (by default) came with Microsoft Office. When I installed the Corel office suite I got a message telling me that the computer was already loaded with Microsoft Office and I didn't need anything else! The computer seemed to be absolutely outraged! ;-) Good luck, John Dictated with Dragon Naturally Speaking John Wickett PEI Canada 902-368-0141 902-651-2152 jwickett@auracom.com jcwicket@vac-acc.gc.ca |

I thought I'd wait till you replied as you're the GroupWise person! I haven't used the full Corel Office suite -- I have got it, 2000 not 2002, but only use WP and Quattro Pro. Also I rarely use Quattro Pro. I do use Word but WordPerfect really is my wp of choice Judy |

Hello John and Judy:
Hi -- John I. and using GroupWise 5.5. However, at the beginning of the week I was looking for a contact manager. So I installed Easy Office (the Canadian software you mentioned). When I did this is set itself as the default over my Microsoft Office and changed my Microsoft icons on my system. When I uninstalled the software it left me with no identifiable icons for my Microsoft Office. So I had to reinstall Microsoft Office. This seemed to also goof up my GroupWise 5.5, since it appearently uses Word in someway. I haven't ask our IT people for help since I'll catch holy hell for down loading something off of the Internet. I am now dictating into the Dragon pad. Since my machine is running at 1.8 gigahertz it pops right up and it's really handy since it makes corrections so easily. I can also see it better. Thanks for all your help. I do have one more question. When I go to the "Start Menu" and select something like programs, how do I get the menu to "expand". At the moment I still have to use my mouse. I would much preferred to use a voice command. Jim -- Michigan -------------------- Jim -- Michigan

Jim,
I am not really sure what you mean by "expand", or why you are accessing programs in that manner. Any application that I use has an icon on the desktop(shortcuts work) and I just say "StartXXXXX" and the application launches. John |

Hello John:
I use a number of desktop icons myself. But there are programs that I use only occasionally that I access through the start menu. When I do that I can bring up the sequence > start -- > programs -- which only shows the first column of programs. I have to go to the bottom of the window and clicked on the bottom of the column to expand it. I suppose it would be much easier to add a few more desktop icons. Thanks -- Jim -------------------- Jim -- Michigan

Jim,
Now I understand clearly; I thought that might be what you meant but I wasn't sure. If you don't want to put applications on the desktop, then: Right-click the Start button, and then click Properties. On the Start Menu tab, click Start menu, and then click Customize. On the Advanced tab, select the Open submenus when I pause on them with my mouse check box. The next time you click Start, and point to All Programs, you see a list of available programs. Alternatively(with Windows there are always several ways to accomplish the same task!) say "Click Start", "Programs", "Move Right One" or whatever movement is necessary to reach the chevrons pointing down that indicate additional programs and then say "Move Down One" and the program choice will expand. The above only works with the Classic Style Start Menu. Decide which way you want to do it and then write a macro or let me know and I will write one for you if necessary. John |
