John mentioned that he'd like to see me go totally VR, so I'm going to take that as a challenge to teach me how to do that<G>. Here are the problems I'm having, and thus looking for ways to solve:
1. I accidentally trained the state abbreviation for PA as P.A. I've tried correcting that ten times but it always comes up as P.A. now. How do I undo an incorrectly trained word or abbreviation? 2. Email addresses are impossible for me to dictate with any speed. Any suggestions. 3. Is there a way to dictate "B. J." and similar people's initials, so DNS will see it correctly the first time? "B period J period" or "Bravo period Juliet period" don't work. 4. I'm entering addresses in a database and DNS handles most of the numbers quite well. However, "44" often become "for for" and "40" entered as "four zero" can become "4 0" for some reason. Does it not sense the context of the entry? I probably should have been correcting the odd entries with "correct that" every time rather than retyping them. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Jerry |

Jerry, I just love challenges so here are some starter answers or at least a pointer in the right direction.

I've tried correcting that ten times but it always comes up as P.A. now. How do I undo an incorrectly trained word or abbreviation? Locate in Vocabulary Manager and delete or correct. 2. Email addresses are impossible for me to dictate with any speed. Any suggestions. If you have the address on screen, highlight and then copy and paste. Otherwise, create a macro - command could be \"type email address\", start with functions like <NoCaps> and <NoSpace> and then dictate letter by letter. 3. Is there a way to dictate \"B. J.\" and similar people's initials, so DNS will see it correctly the first time? \"B period J period\" or \"Bravo period Juliet period\" don't work. Another macro - command could be \"dictate initials\", start with <CapsOn>, <NoSpace>. 4. I'm entering addresses in a database and DNS handles most of the numbers quite well. However, \"44\" often become \"for for\" and \"40\" entered as \"four zero\" can become \"4 0\" for some reason. Does it not sense the context of the entry? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Jerry Good luck, John ----------------------------------------------------------- Dictated with NaturallySpeaking jwickett@auracom.com jcwicket@vac-acc.gc.ca |
