Does anyone have any suggestions for getting dictation shortcuts to work with a mobile recorder. I have DNS 5 and a DNS mobile recorder. When I use the recorder as a microphone the shortcuts work. However, when I transcribe a dictation shortcut, it doesn't work.

Which recorder are you using? I can get the short cuts to work with the Sony recorder, you just need to make sure that when transcribing you have the "use all commands" option turned on.

The recorder is not the best one available. It is actually a Voice-it recorder which Dragon bought from them a while ago. Currently, the Sony recorder is being shipped with the preferred product if you want a mobile solution. As to getting dictation shortcuts to work, I have been unable to do so. I do know of a couple of people who have been able to make them work on the Olympus recorders, but my suggestion would be to upgrade the recorder.

What about moving up to Professional? I think the recorder itself is doing the job but has more to do with transcribing a recording as opposed to directly from a microphone. My impression has been that the Professional version is better suited for recordings. For example, www.dragonsys.ca recommends Professional for the Voice-it recorder.

Anyone still interested in this topic?
DNS 5 Mobile Preferred now ships with the Sony MS1 recorder? Why did they change if the Voice It was the best? If you purchase the Sony MS1 VTP from Sony or an electronics vendor you get the Sony MS1 recorder with the DNS 5 preferred software. I had been using DNS 5 preferred and recently purchased a Sony MS1 thinking it was the most advanced recorder. I use the Buddy Handy noise cancelling microphone with the recorder. I have not been able to get my shortcuts to work either. Shouldn't the software be able to do this? Why would it be the recorder preventing it? The recognition is pretty good. I also wonder whether the Professional version would make a difference. Maybe the 6th edition? Let us know if there's a solution. Thanks. |

For some reason when I transcribed today from my Sony MS1, my dictation shortcuts did get recognized. (setting on "All Commands") The only problem is that when it stopped typing my shortcut,it stopped transcribing the rest of the file. When I went back and selected "Restricted Commands" it transcibed non-stop, but of course didn't type out any of my shortcuts. Does anyone have any ideas how to solve this problem?
What file does the data get copied to when transcribing from Sony's Memory Stick Voice Editor software to NatSpeak? Thanks. |
