Skip’s recommendation should work but it will probably only work until you make a correction or move the cursor. If this problem is occurring locally (on your computer as opposed to dictating over a network) in Select-&-Say applications such as Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, DragonPad etc. then we think it may be related to a corrupted user profile. The last time we ran into this problem, creating a new user resolved the issue. Depending on what flavor and version of NaturallySpeaking you are using, you may be able to export and import your vocabulary and commands into your new user profile.

KnowBrainer's suggestion takes the solution to the extreme. In actuality, it is little more than a Band-Aid.

The problem is related to the fact that capitalization commands are toggles. They are also global and vocabulary based. Occasionally, these commands get toggled on. All that is really necessary is to toggled them off. In the case of "Caps-On" and "Caps-Off". These are occasionally toggled on when saying "Cap that." Since they must be toggled on and off by voice command, once they are toggled on everything is capitalized from that point forward until you toggle them off. In other words, it is simply a simple command misrecognition and you need not be overly concerned about it. Just issue the appropriate command to toggle capitalization of (Caps-Off). In addition, occasionally dictation and commands can be misrecognized in such a manner as to automatically toggle capitalization on. This occurs most frequently when the user is in "spell mode,"but it can also occur in any other mode. The 2nd most frequent condition under which it occurs is in "normal mode." Nevertheless, although rare, it is not uncommon for this to occur periodically. Some might consider it a bug, but it is most often simply a recognition issue that is usually just a result of the misrecognized utterance and is also usually a user or hardware (microphone dictation source) issue.

In addition, the problem has nothing to do with Select-and-Say and it is probably unnecessary to create a new user.
