Sorry for this newbie question -- I've spent 2+ hours looking for an answer on the web with no definitive answer in sight.

I have several thousand numbers to enter in Excel, and I'd just like to know if DNS 9 Preferred will speed this up before I purchase a copy. My problem, specifically described:

If I were to enter the numbers by hand, I would select a group of 8-by-8 cells. I then type in a number and press Enter, which takes the focus to the next cell down, but leaves the 8x8 block still selected. I'd continue as such, and when I was on the last cell in the first column, pressing Enter would take me to the top cell of the second column, and so on. Excel does this automatically, which is nice, but does the same thing work for DNS? I don't want to spend such a large amount of money to find that I can only have on cell selected at once.

I don't need formula entry, commands, etc. Just the numbers. What causes me hesitancy is having used MS's speech recognition tool that comes with Office. It's so slow that it gains me no time versus simply entering values by hand. So DNS has to be faster than my fingers to make it worthwhile.

If it matters, I'm using XP and Excel 2003.

Thank you!
