Unless there is a much better Bluetooth headset for $50 to $75 or so more, I plan to buy a B1000 or B150-GTX Bluetooth; also if the B10-GTX be replaced be a better Bluetooth 2.0 headset soon may delay my purchase.
The headset is for use with Dragon9 at my non-Bluetooth desk PC and a ThinkPad T60. I bought a Sony SX 46 recorder hoping to make notes outdoors to transcribe later with Dragon 9, however abandoned that notion, because: is clunky, cannot directly train dragon to recorder microphone, wind noise, lack of patience, etc. Now hope to use some headset to my Dragon equipped laptop in vehicle for that purpose. I see some difficulties to overcome; the wind noise while out of vehicle, cannot see laptop display, not knowing if effective distance is exceeded till later… However if the relevant point of notes are written, some formatting and cleaning later will be acceptable. The plastic pad opposite headset speaker of B10-GTX headset appears similar to the uncomfortable headset included with Dragon. Is the B10-GTX significantly more comfortable? I noticed this comment at emicrophones site, “In a nutshell, the B1000 and B150-GTX use the same B10-GTX headset designed specifically for speech recognition software”… The Dongle is shown to have greater range than the base station. Is dongle less responsive, or has greater noise gain, so less accurate for voice recognition for shorted distances so performance and accuracy with dragon better using base station system. If base station is better, I have an inverter so might find a place to incomvientally perch the base station in vehicle. The VXI B150-GTX Headset w/ Dongle Adapter Combo shows ratings of 4star + 5star + 5star = overall of 5star. However, the VXI B1000 GTX Headset w/ USB Base Station shows ratings of 4star + 5star + 5star = overall of 4star. Anyone know why is the rating less? Should I forget this idea, have other tried this out of vehicle process and found process impractical? |

Having tested many Bluetooth microphones and having been beta testers of the VXI Bluetooth’s, they're the only Bluetooth headset that we have found work well with Dragon. >>> The plastic pad opposite headset speaker of B10-GTX headset appears similar to the uncomfortable headset included with Dragon. Is the B10-GTX significantly more comfortable? I noticed this comment at emicrophones site, “In a nutshell, the B1000 and B150-GTX use the same B10-GTX headset designed specifically for speech recognition software”… >>> That is correct. Both models use the same headset, the B-10 GTX. >>> The Dongle is shown to have greater range than the base station. Is dongle less responsive, or has greater noise gain, so less accurate for voice recognition for shorted distances so performance and accuracy with dragon better using base station system. If base station is better, I have an inverter so might find a place to incomvientally perch the base station in vehicle. The reason why we have given the B1000 one less star is that the base station isn't mobile and wouldn't be practical to move around. Actually if you're planning to use a microphone in a noisy environment like a vehicle we would strongly suggest using our best noise cancelling microphones like the Sennheiser headset or theBoom. Incidentally the Sennheiser can be used along with the Andrea battery box in many digital recorders. Keep in mind however that recognition with a digital recorder will never be as good as when dictating directly to your computer. Michael Mendick http//www.emicrophones.com |
