I bought an Olympus DM-1 to record seminars and talk radio. However, the thing drove me nuts because the fast forward was so slow. Does anyone have any recommendations for a DVR that:
1. Has 20+ hours of recording on low quality setting. 2. Has removeable media 3. Has a good fast forward (if not a user-selectable FF interval) Thanks. |

Hi,
I have a DM-1, and am curious as to exactly why you're concerned about the fast forward control? The recorder's FF feature isn't an issue with me, because once the sound files are downloaded into my computer via the high-speed USB connection or smart-card reader, I then use CoolEdit to do anything that I want with the sounds -- such as instant fast-forward to anywhere in the recording, or high-speed "mickey-mouse" playback -- and you can do the same either with CoolEdit, or the equivalent. I think I've only used the FF feature of my recorder once or twice in almost two years. The main function of my DM-1 is just to collect sounds, which it does quite well. Incidentally, I strongly advise getting the optional directional thumb-mike (I think it's the ME-12??) so as to greatly improve the signal/noise reception of the recorder. Regards, Tom |
