Which Program?: Preferred 7 and Professional 8

It's been a long time since I posted here, I've since upgraded to Professional. You guys got me started with my initial forays into speech recognition, answering the simplest of questions. I've been busy trying to post relevant NaturallySpeaking content. One thing that bugged me was it was too hard to find free NaturallySpeaking info, and kept finding references to out of date versions. Like enough things are expensive with NaturallySpeaking, information doesn't have to be too.

I've filled about half the content at speechwiki.org's Dragon NaturallySpeaking section
I've drafted and fine-tuned about 75% of the content at Wikipedia NaturallySpeaking article.
I try to answer all the questions I know answers to at the KnowBrainer forum. I kind of drifted over there, I was getting quicker responses.

The reason I've come back is the Wikipedia NaturallySpeaking article. It's gaining momentum as I mention it here and there, and will quickly become a highly referred to link. I know you guys know stuff, more than me, and I want you to get in on the action while it's hot.

So thanks John Wickett, DAS, Tom S, Judy Evans, jnuttallphd, mmarkoe, Larry Allen, Matt Chambers and others.

Oh yeah. And I'm now using my real name, Ian Nastajus.

Ian,
Welcome back and you are certainly welcome for any assistance that I have provided. I would say that your first resource would be Larry Allen's book on scripting for DNS.

With regards to other sites, no-brainer is in the midst of litigation for piracy.

Also, some people are wondering why one of the sites is called Wickipedia.

Check out Wikipedia:About, I assure you guys it has nothing to do with Mr. Wickett, the site's huge.

I have Larry Allen's book. Actually, that was the point I was trying to bring up, NaturallySpeaking information is harder to find for free than other things. Like HTML for example.

I'm sorry to hear there are problems with KnowBrainer.

Ian,

If you do a Google search for VBA you may find some better results although many are linked to Excel, the same theories still apply.

I think this is a nice wiki entry, and I even learned something new. It's probably not practical to turn it into a complete reference unless there are some dedicated people, but I'm glad to see someone put some effort towards creating a Dragon entry.

Until recently it was filled with only my two years knowledge. Now I'm getting the points of view of people involved since NaturallySpeaking was introduced, so it's becomming very useful.

Ian,

I have managed to edit a couple of paragraphs at the beginning. Please take a look and see if you want me to use a different format.

I made some changes. To see what's different, click history, and click compare selected versions. I think the same point still gets across, but more concisely/sooner/effectively I don't which word to use / what do you think?

Ian,

I know that sometimes I can be a bit long-winded but sometimes being concise detracts from the message being imparted.

By the way, I did not find an "History" button.

John,

It's right next to "edit this page", it's more of a tab. In big documents it's hard to see precisely the differences without using the comparison feature. It highlights in nice big red letters. smile.gif I know the history screen looks intimidating, just click the button with the default selections, it currently compares us two.

That's the great thing about a wiki, it's always a work in progress. There's no pressure to be immediately immaculate. We'll come to the perfect wording in time.
