Issue: I have Dragon NaturallySpeaking v8 Professional. I’m trying to dictate into Microsoft Word 2003. The Select-and-Say command-and-control features or functions are not working in Word. I am able to dictate but not select text.
Resolution: Follow the steps below to resolve this issue. 1. On the Dragon Toolbar, in the "Tools > Options > Miscellaneous" tab, make sure the option "Use Active Accessibility for menu and dialog control", is checked. 2. In Microsoft Word XP, click on the "Help menu > About Microsoft Word > Disabled Items." If the following file is listed, dgnword.dll, select it and click the "Enable" button. ![]() 3. If you are still experiencing issues, try to run the Repair utility that is found on the Dragon NaturallySpeaking installation CD. Simply place the installation CD into your CD-ROM drive. When the installation begins, the existing Dragon NaturallySpeaking installation will be detected and you will be prompted to either "Repair" or "Remove" the application. Select "Repair". Note: If you continue to have with Select-and-Say feature in Microsoft Word XP, check to see check to see that the Microsoft speech engine is not enabled. For Windows XP Operating System with Office XP Make sure the Windows XP speech recognition is not enabled. To do this, go to "Start > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Languages tab > Details" button. In the Installed services section, scroll and select the "Speech Recognition" item. Click on "Remove" to remove this option from the list. Or For Windows 2000 Operating System with Office XP Go To: 1. Control>> Add/Remove Programs>> 2. Click Microsoft Office XP 3. Click "Add or Remove Features" 4. Click "Next" 5. Click the "+" sign next to "Office Shared Features" 6. Click the "+" sign "Alternative User Input" 7. Click the Drop down next to "Speech" and choose "Not Available" 8. Click "Update" -------------------- Josh
