Issue: I purchased a Philips 9350 Digital Pocket Memo Recorder as well as the Philips 9284 Barcode scanner. The Barcode scanner doesn't appear to work with my Philips 9350 DPM.
Resolution: Upgrade the firmware in the Philips DPM to version 2.20. This upgrade will ensure the the Philips Digital Pocket Memo is completely compatible with any Philips accessories. Philips Firmware Upgrade to version 2.20 This applies to the following models: DPM 9220, DPM 9250, DPM 9350, DPM 9400i, DPM 9450 & LFH 9750 How to view the device’s current firmware level/number 1. Turn the device ON with the device in STOP mode, press the following 3 keys simultaneously. The DL + DEL + JOG-DIAL/WHEEL keys. You should see the current firmware information. 2. “Press any key”. You can exit the TEST MODE when you see the text End: INS + DL at the bottom of the display. Press these keys simultaneously to return to normal operation. In the case of the 9750, remove and reconnect the power supply. Firmware Upgrade Preparation Follow these instructions carefully and in the order in which they are given. The DPM device must not be connected via the USB cable at this time! 1. Turn on the DPM device Turn on the DPM via the Lock/Hold switch (DPM 9350 and DPM 9400i) or the ON/OFF switch (DPM 9250 and DPM 9220). To turn on the Philips 9750, connect the device via the power supply. 2. Remove power from the DPM device When operating the device with batteries, open the battery cover wide (there must be no contact with the batteries). When running the device from a power supply (there must be no batteries in the device), disconnect the power supply from the device. 3. Activate the firmware trigger switch Insert a paper clip, or something similar into the small hole above the text “Made in Austria” and press using a very slight pressure so as to not damage the trigger switch. You should hear/feel a “click or pop”. On the Philips 9750, this hole can be found on the bottom of the device next to the letter “P”. 4. Apply power to the DPM device Keep the paper clip pressed against the trigger switch while you close the battery cover or reconnect the power supply device. If you are successful, the device display will be blank and the device is now in firmware upgrade mode, otherwise repeat the process the point 2. Download http://216.95.181.169/applications/firmware/0220 * Do not download this link unless you need to perform a firmware upgrade for a Philips Digital Pocket Memo. This link will install a DPM Firmware Upgrade Wizard. Locate the firmware file you have downloaded to your PC and double-click it to launch the new firmware update wizard. Once the steps on page 1 have been completed successfully, connect the unit to the USB cable (connected to your PC). Follow the instructions of the DPM firmware upgrade wizard to complete the upgrade. Thanks, Josh
