I have a single hard drive with XP Home Edition and 1 GB of memory. I currently have 720 min and 1440 max virtual memory settings, but I believe these should be increased for optimal performance. Am I correct, and if so what should the figures be?

In W2K when setting the swap file, one has a choice to optimise performance for Applications or Background services. I have selected Applications but often wonder if that is correct.

David,

Do not allow W2K to optimize. Set you minimum and maximum swap file at the same value, generally at 1.5 times the amount of RAM.
