Dragon Systems'® Widely Acclaimed Revolutionary Software Wins More Than 40 Major Industry Awards in Less Than One Year

New York, N.Y. - June 17, 1998 - Dragon NaturallySpeaking was selected for two 1998 PC World World Class Awards as Best Voice Recognition and Most Promising Software Newcomer, Dragon Systems, Inc., announced today.

These prestigious honors from PC World, brings the new total to over 40 worldwide industry awards for the widely acclaimed Dragon NaturallySpeaking continuous speech recognition software around the world since it started shipping in June 1997. First of its kind to market, this revolutionary breakthrough has claimed more awards from major PC and business publications than any of its competitors.

Launched in 1983, the PC World World Class Awards are the Best Products of 1998, as selected by PC World editors in hardware, software and internet-related product categories. The award results will be printed in the July 1998 issue of PC World and celebrated at a PC EXPO reception in New York City on June 17, 1998.

According to PC Data April 1998 reports, Dragon Systems is now the ninth largest publisher of business software in the U.S. PC Data year to-date reports that Dragon NaturallySpeaking has exceeded IBM ViaVoice and Lernout & Hauspie VoiceXpress in both revenues and number of units sold.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking is a large vocabulary, continuous speech recognition product which makes it possible for users to dictate general text naturally, without the need to pause between words.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking also won a 1997 PC Magazine Technical Excellence Award, two MVP Awards from PC/Computing, including Usability Achievement of the Year, BYTE Magazine's BEST OF COMDEX in 1997, one of the Best New Products/Software to watch in 1998 from BusinessWeek as well as the Best of Cybertech Award of 1997 from Time Magazine. It is available in three editions for consumers, SOHO/business markets and professionals: Standard, Preferred and Professional Editions and two editions for vertical markets: Legal Suite and Medical Suite announced in the Spring of 1998. Also available for the novice user is Dragon Point & Speak, available at a street price for $49, which enables users to dictate into virtually any Windows application, including Microsoft Word, Corel WordPerfect, popular online chat rooms and email packages.
